By Rick Roirdan.
I loved this book because of the adventure and intensity. Percy tries to be a regular kid but it’s kind of hard to be normal when you can somehow control water. His father is Neptune, god of the seas, and Percy has to go on a quest when he is blamed for stealing Zeus’ master bolt. He needs to prove he is innocent and stop a war. Will he find the real culprit or will it be too late? Read this exciting book to find out.

We beat NYCC! July 6, 2007

Last week we beat our archrivals, NYCC. My dad did the adult relay at half time. We pushed our coaches into the pool at the end and all jumped in. I got first in the mixed relay, 4th in breast stroke, 6th in backstroke, first in the 100 free relay and first in the 25 free. I came very close to beating the pool record and am going to keep trying. The record is 16.63 and my time was 17.38. It was a very (emphasis on the word very) close finish. I won by .01 seconds!! This saturday I am swimming fly again- Yea! I will let you know tomorrow how our meet goes this weekend. Stay tuned! Go Dolphins!

by Mary Downing Hahn. Calling all mystery lovers! This book had suspense, romance and a very good mystery. I have just discovered this writer and have checked out several of her books. They a quick summer read! I also like how descriptive the writer is. She makes you feel as if you are there witnessing the events. Go to your library and check some of her books out!

Book Review- Green Angel July 6, 2007

Green Angel by Alice Hoffman was a great book. Once I started reading, I could not tear myself away. The main character is a girl named Green/ Ash. I really like how Green rediscovers herself after a volcano erupts and she loses her parents. Check it out- I highly recommend this book for 10-18 yr olds.cvr_greenangel1.jpg

Book Review: The Secret of Platform 13 June 25, 2007

If you love tales of adventure, comedy and fantasy, you’ll love this great book by Eva Ibbotson. In this book, four odd heroes try to rescue a kidnapped prince in London. The rescuers and their people live on a magical island. The gump is the only way to the island and it only opens every 9 years for 9 days. Read this exciting book to see if the heroes rescue the prince or if the gump will close for another 9 years.

My First Race…Rain or Shine! June 3, 2007

Today, I was in my very first race!!! There was one problem. It was raining cats and dogs. Pouring. Pattering. Spitting. Whatever you call it! Oh yeah, there was another problem in my 10-14 race, I was racing against a 14-year-old boy. They combined my race with another, which added a 15-year-old boy to the mix. The boys took off as soon as it started. I knew I was done for. On the false flat up to the finish it felt like hail was hitting my face. The corners were literally acute angles. The 15-year-old boy didn’t count for the 10-14 race, so I finished second after a long hard race. Turned out the rain stopped after my race. My Dad was right, I did get a soaking. I really liked with the wind at my back. I could go really fast. And it was fun watching Daddy race. I got the ring the bell for his last lap. He got 3rd.

For my second place prize, I got a $30 gift certificate to a bike shop and a cool medal. Daddy got a trophy.

I REALLY hope I race again, but not in the rain.

Finally a First… And A Goal! April 29, 2007

I got first place in my school fun run on Friday! What a race! I quickly pounded my way to second. The lead girl had been sprinting the entire thing (I was still on her tail, but not sprinting), and was getting tired. In the last three blocks, I caught, then passed her. My dad said that when I started srinting, even he had a hard time keeping up with me! I was about a block ahead of second place, and my time for eight tenths of a mile was about (drumroll please)… 6:10! If the run was a mile, my time would be near 7:30, my best time ever! I got this awesome medal. Here is a picture.

On Saturday, I went to my soccer game happy, knowing I had a car full of family coming to watch me play. My coach was out of town, so my mom helped another coach, well, coach us. During the beginning of the first half, I twisted my left knee, and had to come of the field. I really wanted to play the rest of the game and not go to get an x-ray, so I walked it off. It hurt to straighten my leg, but I withstood the pain, and was able to play a bit more of the first half. The reason I had to leave the field (again) was that after I kneed the ball, it started hurting (again). I played the entire second half, and scored a goal!!! We lost the game, 4-2, but I had fun playing. My knee still hurts, but not as much as it did yesterday. The title says it all, doesn’t it! Gotta go!!!

We saw the beavers. They were very active, and were playing around in the water. I took this picture.

In one exhibit, we even saw an albino catfish! Here’s a photo that I took of “Whitey”.

Holy Saturday Report April 7, 2007

Filed under: family — elliesnoise @ 12:16 pm

Hey there! It’s finally the day before Easter! Today, I’m going to find something to wear for tommorow. My grandma is going to take me to MacArthur Center, and perhaphs somewhere-else! I might even go to an Easter-egg hunt at the Yacht Club! Its been snowing off and on all day or we would have gone to watch the US Open bike race in Richmond. I think I’ll go eat lunch now (PB&J and Turkey and Mayonnaise are my favorites)! Bye for now!
