A Fast Butterfly December 17, 2007

Filed under: family, sports, swimming — elliesnoise @ 8:50 pm

I know I haven’t posted in a while, but I’m excited because I cut four seconds off my 50-meter butterfly. I went from 50 seconds to 46 seconds. Mommy shot this video and you can hear Mommy and Daddy cheering for me!

Everyone said I did great, even my coach. Yay!

I’m so sorry I haven’t blogged in a while! Let me catch you up. I’ve ended summer holidays and gone back to school. My teacher rocks! We, as in my classmates and I, have had a lot of fun. My soccer season has started, and I’m doing great! Four goals in three games!

Oh, did I mention that I went to New Hampshire for two weeks in August? Yeah, it was fun. I even flew up alone and stayed with my grandparents (alone) for a week. Then, my parents came up with my sisters by car. Since my grandparents live on a lake, we had lots of fun. Kayaking, canoeing and swimming galore!

I also went biking. My dad took me mountain biking for the first time! So fun!

Then, of course, there was Tamarack the black lab, my grandparents’ dog. So loving, and cute. Tamarack loved me. I loved her. But now, she’s up in heaven playing catch with Seamus, my dog… I miss them so much. I liked the fishing, too. Tamarack would fish in a little cove, beside the house where I stayed.

Well, I went home, and sports started up again. I already mentioned soccer, so I’ll talk about swimming. So far, so good. I think I’m getting better. And I made a couple friends.

My 10th birthday happened soon after I got home. I invited a lot of friends to my party and got some really cool presents, including five Webkinz! We had lots of fun decorating cupcakes, playing kickball and doing lots of other things. Well, gotta go! See ya!

My First Race…Rain or Shine! June 3, 2007

Today, I was in my very first race!!! There was one problem. It was raining cats and dogs. Pouring. Pattering. Spitting. Whatever you call it! Oh yeah, there was another problem in my 10-14 race, I was racing against a 14-year-old boy. They combined my race with another, which added a 15-year-old boy to the mix. The boys took off as soon as it started. I knew I was done for. On the false flat up to the finish it felt like hail was hitting my face. The corners were literally acute angles. The 15-year-old boy didn’t count for the 10-14 race, so I finished second after a long hard race. Turned out the rain stopped after my race. My Dad was right, I did get a soaking. I really liked with the wind at my back. I could go really fast. And it was fun watching Daddy race. I got the ring the bell for his last lap. He got 3rd.

For my second place prize, I got a $30 gift certificate to a bike shop and a cool medal. Daddy got a trophy.

I REALLY hope I race again, but not in the rain.

It’s Spring Break and my grandparents from New Hampshire have come down to visit! I rarely get to see them. Here is a (bad) picture of them that I took…

We decided to go to the Virginia Living Museum today. We took some pictures. Here are a few of them. This one is of Millie and I, taken by my Dad, Cyclochris.

We saw the beavers. They were very active, and were playing around in the water. I took this picture.

In one exhibit, we even saw an albino catfish! Here’s a photo that I took of “Whitey”.

Hey there! It’s finally the day before Easter! Today, I’m going to find something to wear for tommorow. My grandma is going to take me to MacArthur Center, and perhaphs somewhere-else! I might even go to an Easter-egg hunt at the Yacht Club! Its been snowing off and on all day or we would have gone to watch the US Open bike race in Richmond. I think I’ll go eat lunch now (PB&J and Turkey and Mayonnaise are my favorites)! Bye for now!

My Dad was in this really cool race at Langley Speedway. He was doing really, really well. At the end he even got 6th place! Here’s a picture of me cheering for him.
