Sherman Alexie wrote a great new book for pre-teens. Just to warn parents: It has some cussing in it. This book is about an Indian boy who deserts his tribe and goes to a white school far away from their reservation. Even his best friend turns his back on the boy named Arnold Spirit. Will he find friends at his new school? Will he discover a part of him he’s never known? Will he meet a girl? This book has lots of adventure and comedy plus little cartoons throughout the book. I’d recommend this book to kids nine and up.

So? What happened? Was he able to keep to his roots and integrate himself into the “white” culture, too? Chances are I won’t be reading this book, so you’ll have to tell me how it all went. SOunds like a good one! Love, Nonnie
