Mom here- I am writing this since Ellie is down with the flu. Two days ago Ellie came home from school feeling a little punky (though she did still go to swim practice). She started spiking a fever that night and was home all day yesterday with a fever and headache. Went to the doctor today- diagnosis- flu. She is right in the middle of Science Fair week at school and Ellie wanted very much to present her project to the judges so we ran by school after the doctor. She went in and presented it but was interupted with a bout of nausea- poor thing! Her sisters and I went to the Science Fair tonight and her project was FIRST PLACE in the fourth grade. GREAT JOB ELLIE!

Book Review: The Iron Ring February 16, 2007
I read this great book; The Iron Ring by Lloyd Alexander.
It is set in Ancient India. It’s about a young boy king, Tamar, who pledges his life to a mysterious man named Jaya after losing to him in a game of Ashka. Will Tamar keep his promise, or not? I recommend this book to 9-14 year olds. It really is a compelling read!

Swim-a-thon February 12, 2007
Tonight I did a swim-a-thon as a benefit for NSD (my swim team). I swam 100 laps of a 25 meter pool- I am soooooo tired and I know I’ll be sore tomorrow. The last 3000m was free style but I also swam fly, back and breast earlier. Time for bed……….
Swimming spectacular February 10, 2007
I kicked some butt!!! I got my first first place in breast stroke (first in any individual stroke). I swam the 50 meters in 50.28 seconds. That’s 6 seconds faster than my last best time. Yippee!!!
I also got fourth in freestyle, but my Dad thinks I really got third. My time was 40.41 seconds, which is a half second faster than my best. In the IM, I got sixth place and first in my heat. I swam 8 seconds faster than before. My time was 1:49.12. And in butterfly, I think I got 4th, but don’t know about it because they didn’t post it.

I’m going to a swim meet today at an INDOOR pool. I’ll be swimming 50 freestyle, breastroke, butterfly, a 50 relay, and, one of my favorites, the 100 IM (individual medely, 25 free, breast, back, and butter). I can’t wait to kick some but!!!!!!

My School February 4, 2007
I go to a public elementary school. That is where I discovered the joy of 4 square. There, I learn more than I think I could at other schools……. it has a great system of teachers and learners. Taylor rocks!!!!!!!Did I mention that during winter break, my teacher fell and broke her elbow. Taylor still rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
